Adult therapy

Signs you might need support...

Sometimes it's difficult to capture how your mood, thoughts, and behaviors translate to your day-to-day life. Below are some common experiences from clients that indicate they're struggling in one or more areas of their lives. See if any of them resonate with you:

  • You've been unable to feel the spectrum of positive emotions, aside from the      occasional burst of relief when you complete a task (especially one you've avoided longer than you should have). You might be feeling the spectrum of emotions you would NOT like to feel so much. Or you might be feeling numb and shut off from all of your feelings as though you're just moving through life like an automaton.
  • You wonder whether life will ever stop feeling like a chore, as you move from one task to the next in perpetuity until you hit your expiration date. You try to dig way back into your mind to determine the last time you felt completely absorbed and enchanted by the moment you were in, and later filled with gratitude that it happened, and it's hard to remember right now.
  • You struggle with feeling restless, anxious with or without a reason, like something bad is going to happen but you don't know what or why.
  • You feel exhausted all the time but your mind seems to be running at full speed when      it's time to sleep.
  • You've experienced a profound change through loss, and aren't sure how to live      though it.
  • You've experienced a change in your life and wonder why the heck you're feeling  so discontent and unsettled.
  • You find yourself chronically upset, agitated, disgruntled by seemingly anything that comes your way and you're really tired of feeling that way.
  • Others have noticed and suggested you need to get support, implying that you're      difficult to be around and you can't blame them because you're frankly tired of being around yourself too.
  • You're struggling within your relationship(s) with significant other(s) in your life, and can't tell whether you're the problem, they're the problem, or you're both engaging in a 'dance' that brings out each of your worst moves.
  • You notice you're having to limit interacting with others to prevent yourself from lashing out and finding yourself on the 5 o'clock news.
  • Your energy and motivation are chronically low, except for when it spikes because you're anxious or agitated or have a task that must be done or else!
  • It feels as though the 'wheels on your wagon' are hanging on by dental floss, and your 'wagon' is attached to a horse haphazardly galloping out of the path of a tornado.
  • You feel like your spirit animal has been downgraded to a three-legged goat with cataracts in both eyes and no sense of direction.
  • If you still aren't sure and would like to take a quick depression and anxiety      questionnaire, please check out the links below:

PhQ-9 (Depression)

https://www.apa.org/depression-guideline/patient-health-questionnaire.pdfPhQ-9 Total scores of 5, 10, 15, and 20 represent cutpoints for mild, moderate, moderately severe and severe depression, respectively. If you scored higher than a '0' on question 9, you need support.

GAD-7 (Anxiety)

https://adaa.org/sites/default/files/GAD-7_Anxiety-updated_0.pdfscore cutoff points listed on link above

  • If any of the above statements resonate or you took the questionnaire and received a score, and you are feeling unable or are about to be unable to function in your day-to-day activities, you're not alone. Please reach out.

How i want to feel

Here comes the sun...

Now, think about how you would like to feel, even if it seems far away right now.

  • I want to waking up feeling rejuvenated and enthusiastic or at least neutral about my day ahead.

  • I want to experience a good night's sleep.

  • I want experience a state of calm in my mind and body.

  • I want the day-to-day tasks to feel easier without feeling like a robot.

  • I want to feel safe enough to be vulnerable, and capable of expressing and receiving love.

  • I want to feel the spectrum of emotions and more alive in my body.

  • I want to enjoy more meaningful relationships, an increased sense of connectedness to others and the world around me.

  • I want to have more energy, motivation, and inspiration to not just do the tasks, but to dream of more, to create more ...

  • I want to feel a sense of purpose or meaning in my life.

  • I want to feel more in tune with my body and mind.

  • I want to feel more in control of myself, my emotions, my habits.

  • I want to experience a sense of coherence within my life and the world around me.

  • I want to feel brave enough to maintain an alignment between my thoughts, feelings, and actions.

  • I want to feel a stronger sense of self and like who I am when I'm alone or with others.

  • I want to feel capable and effective.

  • I want to be less impacted by change, more accepting of the ebbs and flows of life.

  • I want to feel more patient with myself and others.

  • I want to feel safe in my body and in the world around me.

  • I want to feel able to live in the present moment, rather than ruminate about the past or anxiously anticipate the future.

  • I want to find magic in myself and in the world around me.

  • What else would you like to experience if you dared yourself to dream?
